Triguard

Triguard triple combination sheep drench

Triguard from Boehringer Ingelheim is a triple combination oral drench for sheep — abamectin, oxfendazole and levamisole in one dose, with selenium and cobalt added. Supplied in 5L and 20L.

Why three actives

The case for a combination is arithmetic. A worm that survives one active still has to survive the other two, so the proportion getting through is far smaller than with any single chemical group. On properties where benzimidazole or levamisole resistance is already established, a combination can still give an effective kill where either active on its own would not.

That is a reason to use it well, not often. A combination used as the routine drench for every mob selects against all three groups simultaneously, and there is no fourth group waiting behind them. Drench on the basis of a worm egg count, and run a reduction test to confirm the combination is still doing what you think it is.

Label points

Abamectin 1.0 g/L, oxfendazole 22.7 g/L, levamisole (as hydrochloride) 33.9 g/L, selenium 0.5 g/L, cobalt 2.2 g/L

Meat withholding 14 days, export slaughter interval 28 days

Not for ewes producing, or that may in future produce, milk for human consumption

Abamectin is toxic to dogs, severely so in herding breeds — keep dogs away from treated stock and empty containers

Avomec

Coopers

All brands at PeekAPaw
