Bioscape describe it as a natural, authentic addition that mimics a fish's natural habitat.

Spider wood is the branching root wood that made the modern nature-style scape possible: fine, twisting limbs that read as tree branches at tank scale. Because the pieces are thin, several are usually combined into one composition, which is why it is sold in packs rather than singly — one piece on its own tends to look like a stick.

Size grade matters more than piece count. The small grade builds a nano or 45cm tank; the 50–60cm grade is for a 120cm tank and above, where a single branch has to span real distance.

Before you order

Natural wood floats until it waterlogs. Expect to weigh it down or tie it to rock for the first few weeks — a fortnight of soaking in a bucket before it goes in saves a lot of fiddling.

It will leach tannins and tint the water amber for the first month or two. That is harmless and many fish prefer it, but if you want clear water, run carbon and change water more often at the start.

Every piece is different — shapes and branch structure vary within a grade.

The rest of the hardscape range is in the Bioscape collection, alongside our fish & aquarium supplies.

Bioscape substrates & hardscape on the brand site

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0563/6676/0120/files/VINE06_9_106593a1-3f1f-46fe-a379-0b2dddf4e33b.jpg?v=1793277666
