Named for its ridged, plated surface — the most heavily textured stone in the Bioscape hardscape range.

Texture has a practical payoff beyond looks. Moss and epiphytes tied onto rough stone grip far faster than on smooth rock, because the rhizoids have something to catch on; a mossed crocodile rock will look established in a couple of months where a smooth stone still looks tied. Ridged surfaces also cast their own shadows under a single overhead light, so the stone keeps its shape instead of flattening out.

Before you order

Sizes and shapes are mixed and vary between boxes. A 20kg box builds the hardscape in a 90–120cm tank.

Heavy texture holds detritus. Give it a blast with a turkey baster or siphon at water changes rather than letting waste settle in the ridges.

Wash thoroughly under running water before it goes in — textured stone carries far more dust than smooth.

The rest of the hardscape range is in the Bioscape collection, alongside our fish & aquarium supplies.

Bioscape substrates & hardscape on the brand site

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0563/6676/0120/files/ROCK07_d7cc4a07-69dc-4cf7-9411-bb4fc79cd037.jpg?v=1793277762
