fluval-select-premium-carbon
Fluval Select Premium Carbon

This is Fluval's bulk activated carbon in the two larger household sizes, made from bituminous coal and steam-activated rather than acid-washed, so it is low in ash and will not raise phosphate. Carbon is a consumable with a short life — Fluval recommends disposing of it monthly — and once it is exhausted it is doing nothing but occupying basket space.

Both sizes are loose granules for any Fluval canister filter; if you want the same carbon in ready-portioned sachets, Fluval Carbon 3 x 100g is the smaller format.

Features

Removes impurities — Highly effective at removing heavy metals, odours, discolourations, organic contaminants and pollutants.

Bituminous carbon — Long-lasting, highly porous and absorbent.

Low ash — Will not raise phosphate levels in the aquarium.

Steam-activated — Activated with steam rather than acid-washed.

Fits any canister — Works with all Fluval canister filters.

Specifications

Sizes — 800 g or 1650 g

Material — Bituminous coal, steam-activated

Replace — Monthly, or as soon as it has done the job you added it for

Before you dose plant fertiliser

Fluval advises waiting at least a week or two after changing carbon before applying liquid plant supplements, because new carbon strips trace elements from plant fertilisers.

View this product on the Fluval website
