It runs on 3.3 W and takes a fine sponge that traps what it collects. It is an addition to your filter, not a replacement for one — Fluval says so explicitly — and it needs to sit in a low-flow corner of the tank to work properly.

It suits rimmed and rimless tanks thanks to the backside spacer, and pairs well with a canister such as the Fluval 07 Series, which handles the mechanical and biological load.

Features

Self-adjusting intake — A floating intake assembly tracks the water level as it drops.

Flow control slider — Matches skimming rate to tanks up to 400 L.

Adjustable intake dial — Regulates how aggressively it draws from the surface.

Directional output diffuser — Set the return to a single direction or spread it.

Rimmed or rimless — A backside spacer suits both tank styles.

Modular design — Comes apart easily for cleaning the collection sponge.

Specifications

Tank size — Up to 400 L (105 US Gal)

Power — 3.3 W

Part number — A208

Water type — Freshwater and saltwater

Setting it up

Depth — Position it so the floating intake assembly is fully extended, roughly 2–3 cm (0.75–1.25") above the skimmer body.

Placement — Put it in an area with little flow to maximise efficiency.

Maintenance — Rinse the collection sponge monthly in tap water, more often in tanks that skim heavily.

View this product on the Fluval website
