Someone who finds your animal scans the code with any phone camera and reaches a profile page you control, so you can update a phone number or add a note without having a new tag engraved.

Why a QR tag rather than an engraved one

An engraved tag is fixed the day it is made. A QR tag can carry a second contact, a note about medication, or a temporary holiday address, and can be corrected the day you change numbers. It also does not put your home address on the outside of a tag anyone can read.

What it is not

It is not a tracker. It shows a location only if a person scans it, and it does nothing at all for an animal that is not found by someone helpful. It is also not a substitute for a microchip: microchipping is a legal requirement for cats and dogs in most Australian states, and a chip is the thing a vet or a pound will scan.

Worth knowing

A QR tag depends on the manufacturer's service continuing to run. Keep an engraved tag or a phone number on the collar as well.

Max & Molly at PeekAPaw · Official Max & Molly site

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0563/6676/0120/files/default_750935eb-be2e-403f-b46b-1751e0be4ffd.jpg?v=1787202142
