The dog has to pull each one out to get at what is beneath it. It is a level 2 game — enough of a step up to hold the attention of a dog that has outgrown a simple treat ball, but not so hard that a first-timer gives up, because you control how far the treats are hidden.

The chipmunks are the part that wears out. They are plush, not chew-proof, and a dog that settles down to shred one will succeed. Replacement chipmunks are sold separately by the brand.
