What Biologically Appropriate means in practice
ORIJEN builds recipes around WholePrey ratios — meat, organs and cartilage or bone in proportions closer to what a cat or dog would eat in the wild. The practical consequence is that most of the vitamins and minerals come from the ingredients themselves rather than from a long list of added synthetics, and the animal inclusion runs far higher than a typical kibble. Everything is grain free.
Choosing a recipe
Original is the everyday poultry and fish blend. Six Fish is built on whole fish, which is worth a look if your pet does better away from poultry. Tundra uses game meats — venison, bison and duck — and is the closest thing here to a novel protein recipe. Fit and Trim lowers the fat for pets carrying extra weight. For cats there is also Guardian 8, formulated around eight areas of everyday health, and a Guardian Senior version for cats over seven.
