Zoo and Exotic Animal Supplies
Diets, supplements and rearing formulas for exotic and non-domestic species. These zoo animal supplies are the products wildlife parks, sanctuaries, aquariums and licensed carers use day to day, and the 42 items here cover penguins, flamingos, sea birds, aquatic mammals, primates, koalas, echidnas, marsupials and small carnivores. The collection splits into two halves: the Vetafarm exotic range and the Wombaroo rearing range.
The Vetafarm exotic and aquatic lines
Vetafarm's zoo products are largely about supplementing whole-prey and fish-based diets, where nutrients degrade during frozen storage. Sea Bird Tablets and Penguin Tablets, the latter available with or without a colour enhancer, are dosed into fish before feeding, and Aquatic Mammal Chews serve a similar role for marine mammals. Flamingo Maintenance Diet and Flamingo Breeder Pellets are kept as separate formulas because birds in breeding condition have different demands from birds on maintenance. Crittacare Herbivore and Crittacare Koala are support diets for animals that are not eating on their own, and the Echidna Diet is a prepared substitute for a natural insect diet.
Hand-rearing exotic mammals
The Wombaroo half of this collection is mostly milk. Formulas are species-specific and, for marsupials, stage-specific: the kangaroo replacer is numbered by the proportion of pouch life completed, running under 0.4, 0.4, 0.6 and over 0.7, while wombat covers three stages, possum two, and koala and echidna are split into early and late lactation. Teats are coded by mouth size rather than by species — C and P, SD and LD, F for flying foxes, and STM, MTM, TM and FM across the marsupial sizes — and the Wombaroo Feeding Bottle takes them. On the solid side there is Primate Meal, Small Carnivore Food, Big Carnivore Supplement, Kangaroo Pellets, Echidna Food and High Protein Supplement.
Brands in this collection
Vetafarm and Wombaroo account for almost the whole collection between them, with Vetnex Seaweed Calcium Powder and My Healthy Hemp animal bedding filling out general husbandry. If you are working specifically with Australian native fauna, the Wildlife collection is the better starting point.
