Wildlife Care and Hand-Rearing

Milk replacers, teats, bottles and specialist diets for people raising orphaned native fauna. Matching the formula to the species and the stage

Marsupial milk changes composition markedly through pouch life, so one formula will not carry an animal from furless joey through to weaning. Wombaroo splits its kangaroo replacer into four stages numbered by the proportion of pouch life completed — under 0.4, 0.4, 0.6 and over 0.7 — while wombat runs across three stages, possum across two, and koala and echidna are split into early and late lactation. Move up a stage as the animal develops rather than on a fixed calendar, and follow the mixing rates on the pack, because the dilution changes with the stage as well as the formula.

Choosing a teat

Wombaroo teats are coded by the size and shape of mouth they suit rather than by species alone, which is why the labels overlap. Teat C suits cats, rabbits and carnivorous marsupials; Teat P suits cats, rabbits and possums; SD is for small dogs and possums and LD for large dogs and wombats; F is for flying foxes and dogs; and STM and MTM cover small marsupials while TM and FM cover large ones. Teat D fits larger bottles, and the Wombaroo Feeding Bottle takes the range. Sizing the teat to the mouth matters more than the bottle you put it on.

Beyond milk

The solid-food side includes Wombaroo Kangaroo Pellets, High Protein Supplement, Small Carnivore Food, Big Carnivore Supplement, Echidna Food and Primate Meal.
