Our frozen raw cat food range is Proudi raw patties for cats: five recipes in total, four for adult cats and one made for kittens. Cats are obligate carnivores and take readily to a meat-based, high-moisture diet, and the patty format lets you serve one small portion at a time rather than breaking up a frozen block at every meal.
Which recipe to start with
The adult recipes are Lamb, Red Combo, Kangaroo and Beef, and Turkey and Chicken. Poultry is the easiest opening move for most cats, because it is closest to what tinned food has already accustomed them to, and the red meat recipes are worth trying if a cat has gone off poultry or you want to rotate proteins through the year. Kangaroo and Beef is the one to look at for a cat that has reacted to chicken or fish in the past, since kangaroo is a protein most cats have had little exposure to. Rotating across two or three recipes rather than settling on one helps head off the fixed preferences cats are famous for, but introduce each new recipe on its own so you can read the response.
Kittens, thawing and fussy eaters
Proudi Turkey and Beef Raw Patties for Kittens is the growth recipe in the range. Thaw patties in the fridge rather than on the bench, and serve at or near room temperature, because food straight from the fridge is one of the most common reasons a cat turns away from raw. Do not refreeze a patty once it has thawed, take up anything not eaten within a short sitting, wash the bowl between meals and wash your hands after handling. Cats coming off dry food often need a slow transition measured in weeks rather than days; mixing a small amount of thawed patty into the current food and increasing it gradually works better than a straight swap. If a cat refuses food altogether for more than a day, contact your vet rather than waiting it out.
