Bird Hygiene
6 products
Showing 1 - 6 of 6 products
The bird hygiene range covers six Vetafarm products for cleaning the cage or aviary, keeping drinking water fresh, and washing the bird itself. Routine hygiene does most of the work in keeping a cage pleasant to live in and free of odour, and these are the everyday products that support a cleaning routine rather than treatments for a sick bird.
Cage cleaning, water and bathing are three separate jobs
Avicare is a disinfectant for hard surfaces — cage bars, trays, perches, feeders and aviary furniture — and it is used after the physical clean, not instead of it. Scrape and wash first, because organic matter left on a surface blunts any disinfectant. Aviclens is intended for drinking water, where slime builds up quickly inside drinkers and feeder tubes in warm weather and is easy to miss because it forms out of sight. Power Shampoo is a bird shampoo for the occasions you bathe a bird. Reaching for a surface disinfectant when you meant a water product, or a shampoo when you meant a cage cleaner, is the common mistake in this category, so check the pack names the application you have in mind before you use it.
Concentrate or ready to use
Avicare is listed in both a Ready to Use spray bottle and a Concentrate, and the collection carries a further Vetafarm cleaner in Ready To Use and Concentrate versions as well. A ready-to-use bottle is the simpler option for a single cage: no measuring, no mixing, and it lives under the sink for a weekly wipe-down. Concentrate earns its place once you are cleaning an aviary, a breeding setup or several cages, because you dilute it to the rate the label gives for the job in front of you. Mix to the stated rate rather than by eye — stronger is not better, and it only means more rinsing before the birds go back in. Let everything dry properly before you return perches, dishes and toys to the cage.
What is in this collection
All six products are Vetafarm, an Australian avian manufacturer. The range breaks down as Avicare Ready to Use and Avicare Concentrate, a second cleaner listed in Ready To Use and Concentrate forms, Aviclens for drinking water, and Power Shampoo for bathing.
