Hoof horn grows slowly, and the manufacturer is upfront that a visible change in hoof growth can take up to 24 weeks, so a hoof supplement for horses is something you commit to for a season rather than a fortnight. in-Stride from EAC Animal Care is a concentrated fine powder, sold by PeekAPaw in a single 1kg tub, and every 35g dose carries published amounts: gelatin 30g, vitamin C 1,000mg, zinc 400mg, methionine 400mg, copper 100mg and biotin 20mg. It is fed to horses on a staged schedule, starting with a loading amount for the first week and stepping down to a regular then a maintenance amount. The powder mixes through the daily feed, including feeds that are watered down and feeds with honey or molasses added, which is useful for horses that pick powders out of a dry hard feed. Split the daily amount between the morning and night feeds.

Benefits

  • A fine powder that mixes into feed, including watered-down feeds and feeds with honey or molasses
  • Published amounts of biotin, zinc, copper, methionine, vitamin C and gelatin in every dose
  • Staged dosing, from loading through to maintenance
  • One 1kg tub, with a 17.5g scoop rate

Important

  • EAC Animal Care publishes no warnings for this product.
  • A 35g dose supplies 400mg of zinc and 100mg of copper. If your horse is already on a fortified feed, a mineral mix or another supplement containing zinc or copper, add up the total daily intake and speak with your veterinarian or an equine nutritionist before feeding the loading amount.
  • The loading amount is published as 7 days only, after which the regular and maintenance amounts apply.
  • A visible change in hoof growth can take up to 24 weeks, so judge the result over a season.
