YumGuard makes two quite different things, and it is worth knowing which one you are buying. The mousse and pate range is complete wet food, formulated to meet AAFCO nutrient levels, so it can be fed as the whole diet. Puree Star and Paste Rica are lickable treats — they are not complete meals, and feeding them as one would leave a cat or dog short. Chlorella runs through the whole range, which is why the food often has a green tint; that is the algae, not spoilage, and it is the single thing customers most often query.
Choose the wet food by life stage rather than by protein, because that is where the formulas actually differ. The kitten mousses come in 60g portions and the adult and senior cat mousses in 80g, while the dog pates are 170g and are formulated for all life stages. Two of the cat mousses share the name Chicken & Mackerel — one is adult, one is senior — so check the life stage on the listing rather than the flavour.
On the treat side, Puree Star sachets are cat only and come in 14g sachets. Paste Rica is a 45g pouch made for both dogs and cats, sold singly or by the carton. Both are useful for hiding tablets, for tempting an off-food pet, or as a training reward, and both contain taurine and vitamin E.
