The New Zealand Natural Pet Food Co.
The New Zealand Natural Pet Food Co. makes freeze-dried raw food and treats in New Zealand under two lines: WOOF for dogs and MEOW for cats. The raw ingredients are freeze dried rather than cooked, so the food is shelf-stable and can be served dry as a topper over kibble or rehydrated with water.
What is in the range
The foods are built on muscle meat plus green tripe, heart, liver, kidney and ground bone, with New Zealand green mussel, kelp, hoki oil and coconut oil added. They are formulated to meet AAFCO nutrient profiles for all life stages, so they can be fed as the whole diet. WOOF dog food comes in 280g and 1kg; MEOW cat food comes in 280g. Proteins run to beef, chicken, lamb, wild venison and duck, several of them paired with hoki or king salmon.
These recipes are dense ā the WOOF lamb food calculates at 5300 kcal/kg ā so the daily amount is smaller than a kibble feeder expects. Weigh the first few meals instead of carrying an old scoop size across.
The treats use the same style of recipe in 50g bags. Two are worth singling out: the green tripe treats are two ingredients, tripe and New Zealand green mussel, in a 40g bag, and the Green-Lipped Mussels dog treat is 100% mussel. The range also includes Manuka Honey Pet Wipes, an 80-pack of bamboo-fibre wipes that are alcohol and paraben free, pH 6.5 and suitable for both dogs and cats.
