A compressed food block that dissolves slowly in the tank, feeding fish while nobody is home. Two options: the Weekend pack holds four blocks lasting up to three days each, and the Vacation block covers up to 14 days.
Where these work and where they do not
A block only dissolves properly where water is moving, so use them in filtered, aerated tanks — in still water they sit and foul. They also add more to the water than a pinch of flake does: for the 14-day block in particular, plan a partial water change around the halfway mark, and do not add one on top of an already overstocked tank. For a short trip, underfeeding is safer than either option; healthy adult fish handle a weekend without food.
