A retrieval toy with a zipped treat compartment and a rope for throwing distance. The training logic is neat: the dog can smell the food but cannot get at it, so the only way to be paid is to bring the whole toy back to you — which is exactly the part of fetch most dogs skip. It suits a dog who runs out happily and then lies down with the toy twenty metres away. It will not fix a dog who has no interest in chasing anything in the first place; that is a motivation problem to solve before this toy is any use.
Doubles as a scent game indoors or in long grass. Works alongside the Chase & Treat for distance rewarding and the Training Dumbbell for formal retrieves. Browse the full Coachi training range.
Features
- Zipped treat compartment — the dog can smell the reward but only you can release it
- Rope attachment — for longer throws and easier pick-up
- Teaches the return — the payoff only happens back at your hand
- Doubles as a scent toy — hide it and let the dog find it for mental work
How to Use
- Load the compartment with a few treats and let the dog watch you do it the first few times.
- Throw short to begin with. Open the zip and pay the moment the toy is delivered to your hand.
- Build the distance only once the return is reliable at close range.
- For scent work, load it, hide it, and send the dog to search rather than throwing it.
