An analogue dial thermometer that sticks to the inside of a terrarium and reads the air temperature at that one spot. Nothing to power and nothing to configure, which makes it a dependable second opinion next to a digital unit. What it will not do is give you a basking surface temperature — that needs an infrared or probe thermometer. Mount it away from the direct beam of a basking lamp, or radiant heat will push the reading high.
Single adhesive-backed unit (Exo Terra item PT2465). Exo Terra now lists it as the Analog Thermometer, so search that name on their site. Temperature is only half the picture in a humid setup — the matching Rept-O-Meter Analogue Hygrometer covers the other half, and the rest of the range is in our Exo Terra collection.
Features
- No batteries — it keeps reading through a blackout and there is nothing to replace.
- Adhesive mount — peel the paper backing, make sure the surface is clean and dry, press firmly.
- Bendable and twistable — angle the dial towards the front so you can read it without opening the door.
- Cheap enough to run two — Exo Terra suggests one in the warmest spot and one in the coolest, so you read the gradient rather than a single number. With only one unit, put it somewhere central.
Specifications
Sold as a single unit; shipping weight 20g. Exo Terra does not publish a dial diameter or a measuring range for this model, so we have left both blank rather than guess at them.
