A dandy brush — stiff, widely spaced bristles for lifting dried mud, dust and loose hair out of a coat. It is the first brush in the standard grooming order: dandy brush to break the dirt out, then a body brush to take it off the surface.
The stiffness is the whole point and also the limitation. It works well on legs and a muddy winter coat, and it is too harsh for the face, the belly or a thin-skinned horse that objects to it. Use a softer brush on those areas.

Features
- Stiff bristles — lifts caked mud and loose hair out of the coat
- First-stage grooming — use before a body brush
- Not for face or belly — too firm for thin-skinned areas
Care
Knock the brush out against a hard surface after use and wash occasionally in warm soapy water. Dry fully before storing so the backing does not stay damp.
