About this diet

Evidence increasingly points to a close relationship between the gut and the liver. Where digestive health is reduced, food particles and microbial remnants leaking from the gut into the bloodstream can overwhelm the liver's immune tolerance, leading to inflammation. Inflammation is associated with fat deposits, which in turn are linked to fatty liver disease and cirrhosis. Gut dysbiosis can also allow bacteria to translocate from the gut to the liver.

LifeWise's approach is therefore two-pronged: ingredients chosen to foster a healthy gut environment, alongside nutrients intended to ease the load on the liver itself. Transition gradually and carefully, with veterinary advice, and keep that support in place through recovery.
