Read this before you buy
Ultrasonic repellers are marketed as a chemical-free alternative to spot-ons and chewables. We are not going to tell you they work: there is no good published evidence that ultrasound repels fleas or ticks, and the manufacturer does not publish trial data either. In Australia this matters more than it does elsewhere, because paralysis ticks kill dogs and cats along the whole east coast, and they do it within days. Do not use this instead of a registered tick preventive. If you live in or visit paralysis tick country, use a product your vet recommends, and keep checking your animal by hand every day in season.
What a tag like this can reasonably be: a supplementary item on the collar of an animal that is already properly protected, for owners who want to add something non-chemical. Judged on that basis it is a sensible-looking, well-made tag. Judged as tick protection, it is not one.
For cats especially
Anything you hang on a cat's collar should be light, and the collar itself should be a quick-release breakaway type. A cat caught by its collar on a branch or a fence will fight until something gives, and it should be the collar.
What we cannot confirm
Max & Molly does not publish the tag weight, battery life or a water resistance rating. Ask us and we will check before you order.
