The Evo Lite is the programmable end of the Microclimate range - a dimming thermostat with a display, day and night temperature settings and a timed ramp between them. That matters for species that need a genuine night drop rather than a flat 24-hour temperature.
It is a considered purchase rather than a starter stat. If you run a single heat mat at one fixed temperature, a simpler pulse stat like the B1 does the job for a third of the price. The Evo Lite earns its keep on a basking setup where you want a dimmed lamp, a scheduled drop, and a readout you can check at a glance.
Suits
- Basking lamps and other light-emitting heat sources, where a dimming stat is required.
- Setups needing a programmed day and night cycle.
Setting up
Place the probe at the animal's level in the warm zone. Confirm the actual basking surface temperature with a separate infrared thermometer - the stat controls what the probe sees, which is not always what the animal sits on.
