Performa 3 is an omega oil rather than a plain energy oil. Mitavite describe it as combining omega-3 rich vegetable and fish oils with added garlic, supplying the three omega-3 fatty acids that matter — linolenic acid, EPA and DHA. The distinction is worth understanding: plant oils supply linolenic acid, which the horse must then convert to EPA and DHA at a fairly poor rate; fish oil supplies EPA and DHA directly. Most horse rations sit heavily on the omega-6 side because cereal grain is high in it, and this is intended to redress that balance.
Three sizes: 5L, 20L and a 200L drum. The 200L drum is a bulk item — contact us about collection or freight before ordering.
Features
- Fish and vegetable oil blend — supplies EPA and DHA directly, not just linolenic acid
- Added garlic — part of Mitavite's formulation
- Omega 3, 6 and 9 — aimed at correcting the omega ratio in a grain-based ration
- 5L, 20L and 200L
Feeding Guide
Introduce oil gradually — a sudden increase commonly causes loose manure. Feed at the rate on the label. Store sealed and out of direct sun; fish oils in particular go rancid with heat and light, so buy a pack size you will use within a reasonable time.
