A kicker is a toy long enough for a cat to hold with its front paws and kick with the back ones. That is a hunting behaviour, not play-fighting, and cats that never touch a ball will go hard at a kicker.
This one has catnip and a crinkle layer, so it rewards on two senses at once. Cats that do not respond to catnip - roughly a third of them - will often still use it for the crinkle.
Kickers get destroyed. That is them working as intended. Check the seams weekly and bin it once the filling starts coming out.
