A mineral salt for aquariums running on soft tap water. Much of Australia's reticulated supply is soft, and soft water is not a neutral starting point for fish — it carries little of the mineral content that gills rely on to regulate salt balance, and it holds pH poorly, which is why some tanks swing overnight for no obvious reason.

Two things this is not. It is not a dechlorinator — you still need a water conditioner for chlorine and chloramine on every water change. And it is not for every tank: soft-water species such as discus, most tetras and wild-caught South Americans are kept soft deliberately, and adding minerals works against them. Test your water before you dose, and add it dissolved in a bucket of the new water rather than tipping it straight into the tank.

Care
Follow the dosage on the pack, and dose against a test result rather than by habit. Keep the container sealed — salts cake once they take up moisture.
