Virbac Veggiedent Fr3sh Dental Chews for Dogs

Virbac Veggiedent Fr3sh is a daily dental chew for dogs, stocked here in the four sizes Virbac makes: Extra Small for dogs under 5kg, Small for 5-10kg, Medium for 10-30kg and Large for over 30kg. The chew is plant-based rather than meat-based, and the Fr3sh formulation adds three ingredients aimed specifically at breath — pomegranate, erythritol and the prebiotic inulin. The size band matters more than it first looks. Chews are matched to bodyweight so that the dog has to work at it, and a chew that is too small for the dog is swallowed in a couple of bites and does much less mechanical work on the teeth. Calories scale with size too, from 24 kcal for an Extra Small chew up to 105 kcal for a Large, so on a smaller dog a daily chew is a real slice of the day's intake — trim the meal to allow for it rather than adding it on top.

• Small — 5-10kg, 48 kcal per chew
• Medium — 10-30kg, 75 kcal per chew
• Large — over 30kg, 105 kcal per chew

If your dog sits on the boundary between two bands, the larger chew takes longer to get through but carries more calories. Supplied in resealable pouches.
