The Mix & Zap Birthday Cake Kit is a dog-safe cake you make in the microwave: add water to the mix, zap it, then ice it with the sachet supplied. Blue and pink versions differ in the icing colour, not the cake.
The appeal is that it takes about five minutes and needs no recipe, no oven and no guessing about which human ingredients are safe for dogs. The limitation is portion size — the finished cake is a lot of food for one dog on one afternoon. Cut it into slices, freeze what you do not use, and treat it as several days of treats rather than one meal.
How to use
- Mix the cake powder with water as directed on the pack
- Microwave for the time stated — times vary with microwave wattage, so check before adding more
- Cool completely before icing and before serving
Cut the dog's normal meals back on the day. Supervise while eating and keep fresh water available.
