A hoof oil earns its place by being used often, not by being dramatic. Applied to a clean, dry hoof wall and coronet it slows moisture moving in and out, which is what causes the cracking and flaking you see in horses moving between a wet paddock and a dry yard.
The 250ml travel pack lives in a float or a show kit. The 500ml and 1L jars come with a brush in the lid, which is the format most people want for daily use. The 4L and 20L are refills - buy one of those plus a jar rather than either alone.
Be clear about what it does not do. Oil is a barrier, not a treatment. Thrush, abscesses, seedy toe and a genuinely poor hoof need your farrier and your vet, and a chronically weak hoof is usually a nutrition problem that oil cannot reach.
