CarSafe makes vehicle restraints for dogs — harnesses that thread onto a car's own seatbelt so the dog stays on the seat instead of moving around the cabin. The range splits into two: a crash tested harness with a padded chest plate, and a lighter travel harness for containment.
Which one — buy the crash tested model if what worries you is a collision; buy the travel harness if what worries you is a dog climbing into the front seat or bolting out an open door. Both come in X-Small through Large, and both should be sized by chest girth rather than by breed. A crash rating only applies at the size the harness was tested at, so a harness one size too big is not a safer harness.
Car harnesses are travel gear. Take them off for walks and use a normal walking harness or collar, and replace any harness that has been through a collision.
