LifeWise Puppy Food

LifeWise runs puppies through three numbered stages rather than one bag for the whole first year, so the thing to get right is which stage your puppy is actually in.

Stage 1 Starter Turkey is a first solid food, for weaning and the weeks just after. It comes in a standard kibble and a Mini Starter with a smaller kibble for small breeds — same idea, different bite size. Stage 2 Lamb & Fish covers the main growth window on Australian lamb and wild tuna, aimed at bone and muscle development. Stage 3 carries growth through to maturity and again comes in two kibble sizes: Turkey Large Bites, and Small Bites Turkey and Lamb at 31% minimum crude protein.

Pick the bite size by jaw, not by expected adult weight — a small-breed puppy on large kibble will simply eat around it. Bags are 2.5kg, 9kg and 18kg; large breeds go through an 18kg faster than owners expect, but a small-breed puppy will not finish one before it goes stale.
