Max's is an Australian-made cat litter sold here in a 12.5kg bag — the middle size between a supermarket single-tray pack and a 20kg cattery sack. It suits a one or two cat household that gets through litter steadily but does not want a 20kg bag taking up floor space in the laundry.
Why bag size is worth thinking about
Litter is one of the few pet purchases where buying bigger is almost always cheaper per use, provided you have dry storage. The limit is not the price, it is whether you can lift and pour the bag comfortably and keep the remainder sealed. Twelve and a half kilos is about where most people stop needing two hands and a plan.
- Fill the tray deep enough to dig — at least 5cm.
- Scoop solids daily and top up as the level falls.
- One tray per cat plus a spare, sited away from food and water.
