Meals for Meows Cat & Kitten Food

Meals for Meows is the cat side of the Australian brand MfM Meals for Mutts, and it follows the same limited-ingredient thinking as the dog range: short recipes, gluten free throughout, and most of them grain free as well.

Two of the recipes are Single Meat Protein, Duck and Kangaroo, each built on one animal protein. That is the format to choose if you are working through an elimination diet with your vet, because a paired recipe gives you two variables instead of one. Two are adult recipes that pair proteins: Kangaroo & Turkey, and Mackerel & Salmon. The last two are kitten formulas, Goat and Turkey & Chicken, for cats under a year old.

Worth knowing before you commit: the single-protein and kitten recipes are only made in 2.5kg, while Kangaroo & Turkey and Mackerel & Salmon run up to 9kg and 20kg. If you feed several cats and want a large bag, you are really choosing between those two recipes rather than the whole range.

Kangaroo is the leanest of the red meats MfM uses and is the usual starting point for a cat reacting to chicken. Mackerel & Salmon is the opposite choice and the one to skip if fish is your suspect protein.
