Salmon & Sardine is the recipe Meals for Mutts is best known for, and the reason there is more than one bag on this page is that MfM makes it several different ways. They are not interchangeable, so it is worth two minutes to work out which one you actually want.

The original is gluten free but not grain free: it is built on ground brown rice, which suits dogs that do poorly on legume-heavy diets. The grain-free version replaces the rice with chickpeas and runs a higher crude protein figure, around 30%. Both use salmon and sardine as the meat, so both carry the omega-3 that people buy this food for. The difference between them is the carbohydrate, not the fish.

The Larger Size Kibble bag is the same brown-rice recipe pressed into a bigger piece, for large-breed dogs that swallow standard kibble without chewing. It is only made in 9kg and 20kg, so it is not an option if you want to trial a small bag first.

The Puppy & Whelping recipe adds turkey to the salmon and sardine and is formulated for growth rather than maintenance. Do not substitute an adult bag for it while a pup is still growing.

None of these are single-protein diets. If you are testing your dog for a food sensitivity, the Single Meat Protein line is the one to look at instead.
