Length to hop, height to sit up

Two measurements decide whether a rabbit hutch works. The first is length: a rabbit moves in hops, and a hutch it cannot take a few consecutive hops down is too short whatever the floor area says. The second is height, because a rabbit needs to sit up on its back legs with ears clear of the roof. That is a real constraint for larger and lop breeds, and it is why the step from a Casita 80 to a Casita 100 or 120H matters more than the numbers suggest. Rabbits also grow: a dwarf stays small, but a mixed-breed rescue kit can end up double the size of the hutch bought for it.

One storey or two, and why a stand helps

Unlike guinea pigs, rabbits use height, so a second level earns its keep. The Multipla Double Two-Storey Modular Cage gives a rabbit somewhere to retreat to above the litter tray, and the Multipla Base Extension and Roof Extension let a single-storey habitat be extended later rather than replaced.
