Royal Canin wet cat food is sold in three textures — gravy, jelly and loaf — and within a given line they are nutritionally equivalent. Instinctive in gravy and Instinctive in jelly are the same food presented differently. That matters because cats are far more texture-driven than flavour-driven: if yours walks away from a pouch, the useful next step is usually another texture of the same recipe rather than a different recipe altogether.

The practical differences: gravy is small pieces in a generous sauce, jelly sets firmer with less free liquid, and loaf is a solid pâté you can mash or portion. Cats that lick the sauce and leave the pieces behind usually do better on loaf. The Sensory range takes this further, with Feel, Smell and Taste built around different sensory triggers and each available in gravy and jelly.

Packs are 85g x 12 and 85g x 48 — the 48 is a bulk case of the same pouch, so there is no reason to compare them on anything but price per pouch and how quickly you will use them. Mother & Babycat comes as a 195g mousse for weaning kittens and nursing queens. One 85g pouch is a meal for many adult cats but not all of them; check the feeding guide against your cat's weight rather than assuming one pouch equals one meal.
