Spunky Pup is a dog toy brand, and what PeekAPaw currently stocks from it falls into two groups: the Clean Earth recycled plush range, and a small set of fetch toys built for outdoors.
The Clean Earth toys — hammerhead shark, caribou, fox, octopus, seahorse, starfish and stingray — are made from recycled PET plastic bottles collected from oceans and landfill, and each one carries a hang tag telling you how many bottles went into it. They can be recycled again once your dog has finished with them. Most come in Small and Large; the hammerhead shark is Large only. Be clear about what they are, though: soft plush with a squeaker inside, made for carrying, shaking and squeaking. A dog that systematically dismantles soft toys will get through one, and that is a chew-strength question rather than a fault.
The fetch toys are the outdoor half of the range. Fly & Fetch Duck has a bungee cord built into it — stretch and release and it launches around 30 metres — in ballistic nylon, plush and cotton rope. The Glow Stick is a 12-inch textured throw toy that glows in the dark, and is dishwasher safe and made in the USA. Both float, which makes them the sensible picks for the beach, a lake or a pool. If you are buying the glow toy for evening walks, leave it under a light for a few minutes before you head out; that is what charges the glow.
