True Blue is a six-product range of air-dried, single-protein Australian dog treats: beef tendons, beef weasands, chicken fillets, goat horns, kangaroo fillets and lamb lungs. Air drying removes moisture without cooking the protein out, which is why the Guaranteed Analysis figures on these sit between 70% and 83% crude protein — measured on the dried treat, not on a wet-weight diet.
Hard chews versus soft treats
The range splits cleanly by texture, and that decides what each one is good for. Goat horns, beef tendons and beef weasands are the hard, long-lasting end — the ones a dog gnaws at over a session, which is where the dental benefit of chewing comes from. Treat them as supervised chews: take them away once a piece is small enough to swallow whole, and think twice about the horns for a dog with a history of cracked teeth or one that bites down rather than gnaws. Lamb lungs are the opposite — light, crumbly and easy to snap into small pieces, which makes them the practical choice for training. Chicken and kangaroo fillets sit in between.
Single proteins are the point
Every treat here is one named meat with nothing added, which is what makes the range useful for a dog on an elimination diet or one that reacts to additives. Kangaroo and goat are novel proteins for most Australian dogs, so they are worth trying where chicken or beef have already been ruled out. These are treats rather than a complete food, so count them within the daily allowance instead of on top of it.
