Catit PIXI Cat Water Fountain Filters are the replacement filters for every Catit PIXI fountain — the standard PIXI, the stainless steel PIXI and the PIXI Smart. They work in three ways at once: a physical layer catches hair and food debris, activated carbon takes out odours and impurities, and an ion-exchange resin softens tap water by reducing magnesium and calcium. Water hardness varies a lot across Australia, so in a hard-water area the softening is doing more work than in Melbourne or Sydney. PeekAPaw stocks them in a 3 pack and a 6 pack. Plan on replacing the filter roughly monthly — a filter left in too long stops filtering and starts holding what it caught, which is usually why an owner reports the fountain smelling.

Continuous filtration
