EVM Omega-3 Plus is the Equine Vit&Min mineral base with algae-sourced omega-3 fatty acids built in. It is the blend to choose when the horse has limited access to fresh pasture or is on a diet heavy in omega-6 — typically a grain and vegetable-oil based hard feed — because that is where the fatty acid ratio goes wrong. Equine Vit&Min put ten times more omega-3 than omega-6 in the formula to pull it back.
Note the serve size before comparing prices: this blend feeds at 90g a day for a standard horse against 60g for EVM Premium Blend, so a 4kg pack does not last as long as the kilogram figure suggests. If your horse is already on good green pasture and does not need the fatty acid correction, the Premium Blend covers the same vitamins and minerals for less. Available in 4kg and 15kg. Benefits
- Algae-sourced omega-3 — not a flaxseed or fish oil, so no separate oil to mix and no rancidity issue in a feed room.
- Ten to one ratio — 4.7g omega-3 against 0.5g omega-6 per serve.
- Coat, skin and joints — the three things owners most often notice when the fatty acid balance shifts.
- Complete mineral base — you are not giving up vitamin and mineral cover to get the omega-3.
