The Incubation Tub is a clear, food-grade polypropylene egg box that holds up to 12 reptile eggs on a suspended tray above a shallow layer of damp substrate. Because the eggs sit above the substrate rather than in it, humidity stays even around the whole shell, moulding is less likely and a hatchling cannot swallow vermiculite on its way out. Be clear on what it is not: there is no heating element and no thermostat in it, so it still needs a warm, stable spot or a proper incubator around it.
The box measures 16.5 x 11 x 5cm and has a thermometer set into it, so the temperature at egg level can be read without lifting the lid. Its rectangular footprint is sized for the Exo Terra Incubator Pro, which takes six tubs single-stacked or twelve double-stacked. If you are choosing between the two: this is the egg box, the Incubator Pro is the temperature-controlled cabinet it goes inside. More of the range is in our Exo Terra collection.
Features
- Suspended incubation method — eggs rest on a tray above the water or substrate, which maximises gas exchange across the shell membrane.
- Substrate-less and hygienic — no packing eggs into damp vermiculite, and less risk of the shells moulding.
- Holds up to 12 eggs — the moulded tray keeps eggs separated and the right way up.
- Integrated thermometer — reads the temperature inside the box rather than the air around it.
- Clear body — eggs can be monitored, and candled, without opening the lid.
- Food-grade polypropylene — non-toxic, reusable and easy to disinfect between seasons.
- Rectangular shape — uses the floor space inside an incubator more efficiently than a round tub.
