Eprinex is the eprinomectin pour-on in the Ivomec range, and the reason people reach for it over the plain ivermectin version is the withholding: nil meat, nil milk and nil export slaughter interval. That makes it the one macrocyclic lactone pour-on you can use on lactating dairy cows without tipping milk.
The trade-off is cost per dose. On dry stock with a long run to slaughter, Ivomec Pour-On does the same job for less.
Supplied in 1L, 2.5L, 5L and 20L.
Key points
- Eprinomectin 5 mg/mL — macrocyclic lactone, backline pour-on
- Nil WHP and nil ESI — meat and milk, including lactating dairy cows
- Schedule 5, over the counter
- Apply to dry animals — rain during or after treatment reduces uptake
Controls
Gastrointestinal roundworms including Ostertagia, Haemonchus placei, Trichostrongylus, Cooperia, Oesophagostomum, Nematodirus helvetianus, Bunostomum phlebotomum and adult Trichuris; lungworm (Dictyocaulus viviparus, adult and immature); sucking and biting lice; Chorioptes bovis and Sarcoptes scabiei var bovis mites; buffalo fly. Aids in the control of cattle tick.
Safety
Macrocyclic lactone actives (ivermectin, abamectin, moxidectin, eprinomectin) are toxic to dogs, and severely so in herding breeds such as Collies, Border Collies, Australian Shepherds and Kelpies. Keep dogs away from treated animals until the product has dried, store the container out of reach, and dispose of empty packs and used syringes where a dog cannot get at them. Withholding periods and export slaughter intervals apply — read the label before treating any animal destined for sale, and rotate chemical groups between seasons rather than relying on one active, because resistance is the main reason a treatment stops working.
