The Buddy Original in the large size gives a bigger dog a mat in proportion to its muzzle and its dinner. The cross-maze surface is the one that handles firmer food well — small kibble, raw, sticky spreads — because the food packs down into the channels instead of sliding off.
Size matters more than it sounds. A large dog on a small mat clears it in under a minute and gets none of the settling effect the mat is bought for; the whole point is a serve that takes time to work through. If your dog is a determined chewer rather than a licker, look at the Tuff range instead — a classic mat is soft rubber and will not survive being bitten.
