- Carbon (2 x 260g) — activated carbon for odour, discolouration and medication residue.
- Zeo-Carb (2 Pack, 570g) — carbon blended with zeolite, which also takes up ammonia.
Which one. Carbon alone is the maintenance choice on an established, cycled tank. Zeo-Carb is the one to reach for on a new tank, an overstocked tank, or after a fish loss, where ammonia is the problem rather than water clarity.
Both are consumables, not permanent media. Carbon is exhausted in about four weeks and zeolite saturates; after that they do nothing but sit in the flow path. And do not run either while medicating — both strip the medication out.
