These are Minrosa's rope-hung salt licks. The rope is the useful part: a lick sitting on the ground picks up dirt, gets stood on, and turns to slush the first time it rains. Hung at chest height in a stall or on a yard rail it stays clean and stays put.
Pick the size by how long you want between replacements rather than by the size of the horse - a 1kg suits a stall you check daily, a 6kg suits a yard you would rather not think about for a month.
A salt lick covers baseline sodium. A horse in hard work or sweating through a hot week will need loose salt or an electrolyte in the feed as well; licking alone is too slow to replace heavy losses.
