The softest thing Nylabone makes, and that is the whole idea. Rubber flexes under a puppy's bite instead of resisting it, so a dog with milk teeth and sore gums gets the pressure relief it is looking for. Vanilla flavour keeps it more interesting than a plain rubber ring.
Because it is soft, it is a short-term product. A puppy that has finished teething will shred it, and it is not built to survive an adult chewer.

Safety
