The chemical stage of the Smart internal filter: activated carbon for odour, tannins and residual medication, and zeolite for ammonia. Both are consumables with a working life measured in weeks — once saturated they stop adsorbing and simply restrict flow, and exhausted zeolite can release ammonia back into the water. Replace on schedule rather than when it looks dirty.
It is a freshwater cartridge. Zeolite does not work in salt water.
Sized per model, with the 400 supplied as a 2 pack. Foam and impellers are in the Ocean Free range.
