A low-wattage warming pad for animals that cannot hold their own temperature — orphaned marsupials in hanging pouches, birds and mammals in hospital cages, reptiles needing ground-level heat, and recovery after surgery. At 10 watts it warms to roughly 15–20 degrees above room temperature, which is gentle by design.
Gentle is not the same as safe unattended. Heat stress is the real risk with any pad, and an animal that cannot move away from the warmth is the situation to avoid.
Specifications
- 260 x 360mm
- 240 volts, 10 watts
- Soft non-toxic PVC cover
- High-temperature cut-off switch
Using it
Plugs into a standard outlet. Animals must always be able to move away from the heated area. Aim for 20–35 degrees depending on the species and age. Below 10 degrees room temperature, position animals close to the pad; above that, insulate them from the surface with layers of woollen fabric and adjust for comfort.
Measure the actual temperature with a thermometer rather than by feel, and ask a vet if you are unsure what an animal needs.
Cleaning
Unplug first, then wipe the PVC cover with a damp cloth or sponge. Do not immerse in water.
