A complete diet for small birds, meant to replace a seed mix rather than sit alongside one. The case for it is straightforward: a bird eating a seed mix picks out what it likes and leaves the rest, so the diet in the bowl and the diet in the bird are two different things. A crumble cannot be sorted.
The catch is the changeover. Birds have to learn a new feeding technique, and some resist — which is why weight monitoring is part of the instructions and not an afterthought.

Changing over
Cockatiels and companion parrots can often go straight across. Otherwise start at 50:50 crumbles and seed and reduce the seed slowly. Crumbles can make up to 80% of the total diet, with fruit, vegetables and treats making up the rest.

Monitor body weight and condition during the changeover to be sure the birds are actually eating the crumbles.
