A grain mix for backyard poultry that get outside. Birds sort a mix - they eat what they like first - which makes it excellent for scratching and foraging and unreliable as a sole ration. A hen left to choose will pick the corn out and leave the rest.
Use it the way it is meant to be used: as the scratch and forage portion alongside a balanced layer pellet or crumble, not instead of one. Hens laying regularly need the calcium and protein levels a formulated layer ration provides, and a grain-only diet shows up in thin shells within a few weeks.
Sizes
- 5kg - a few hens, or a trial before buying bulk.
- 20kg - the standard bulk bag for a regular flock.
Feeding
Scatter through the run in the afternoon to encourage foraging. Provide shell grit separately, and keep the bag sealed and off the ground - grain draws rodents.
