A pelleted grower ration for the stage between chick crumbles and a layer feed. Grower feed is deliberately lower in calcium than a layer ration, because a bird that is not yet laying has no use for the extra and excess calcium is hard on developing kidneys.
Move birds onto it once they have outgrown crumbles and keep them on it until point of lay - roughly when the first eggs appear or the comb reddens up - then switch to a layer feed. Pellets also stop birds sorting the ration, so every mouthful is the same balance.
Feeding
- Available at all times with clean water.
- Provide insoluble grit if the birds have no access to soil.
- Store sealed and dry; pellets soften and spoil once damp.
